Our first country - The Philippines

The first country I'd like us to pray for is the Philippines (or the Republic of the Philippines; or Pilipinas) because during my prayer time, when the idea of this blog popped up, so did the Philippines.

Admittedly, I know very little about this group of 7,107 islands. In fact, I was shocked at the number.

The Philipines is located in Southeast Asia and on the Pacific Ring of Fire. Just the location alone, on the Ring of Fire, is cause enough to pray for this country as it's probably not the safest area to live in sometimes.

On a random interesting note, this quote from Wikipedia caught my attention: 

Due to the volcanic nature of the islands, mineral deposits are abundant. The country is estimated to have the second-largest gold deposits after South Africa and one of the largest copper deposits in the world.^[85] It is also rich in nickel, chromite, and zinc. Despite this, poor management, high population density, and environmental consciousness have resulted in these mineral resources remaining largely untapped^[85]  

<sup>Hmm...I wonder about how it will be in the future. That could also be something to pray about.

 Recent news I found on http://www.philnews.com said that there is a new Cybercrime Law, and while I don't know what all it entails, it doesn't look like the citizens are too happy about it.
 

Also http://www.philstar.com says "The NBA Philippines ushered in the new season by hosting its first ever Fantasy Basketball Draft last night in the Infinity Tower at the Fort Global City in Taguig."



Perhaps someone could explain to me what exactly Fantasy Basketball is?
